Deacons MTW

In response to the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria on Feb 6th, Mission to the World (our denomination's global missions organization) has sent field workers and is coordinating with local partner churches to provide relief and support. The deacons are making a donation on behalf of CTK to this recovery effort. We invite you to pray with us for everyone affected and to consider contributing individually to the MTW Compassion Fund.

Deacons' Fund Report

Each year we share an update on the CTK deacons' fund -- how much was collected and how the diaconate used the fund to help people in need. You can see the 2022 update here. We thank God for his provision and for your generosity! If you or someone you know is struggling with material needs, the deacons would love to help and to walk alongside you. Please email deacons@ctkcambridge.org with questions or needs.

Building Committee Updates

The Building Committee sent out a letter to the congregation last week with updates about the renovation project.  Most notably, work will begin shortly on reinforcing the trusses in the roof.  Scaffolding will go up soon for that, and the work is projected to take about three months.  For more information, and how this impacts the use of the building, you can find the letter at ctkcambridge.org/renovations.  Questions about the project can be directed to building@ctkcambridge.org and questions about how this will impact Sunday mornings can be directed to office@ctkcambridge.org.

Men's Bible Study

Looking for a New Year's resolution? The Friday morning men's Bible study will begin a study of Galatians starting January 6th, and we're shifting back by 15 minutes so you don't have to set your alarm before 6! Join us 6:15-7:15am here on Zoom for fellowship, reading, reflection, and discussion. Contact Andy (astuntz@gmail.com) with questions.

Sunday School Teacher

Children’s Sunday School teacher needed in our Grades K & 1 class. We are looking for someone to finish out the school year, stepping in for a teacher who is completing graduate school soon after many years of faithful service. Class meets before the service from 9:15-10:15am and co-teachers rotate leading the lesson and assisting with class. This is an incredible relationship and disciplining opportunity serving our most eager and delightful congregants! If you may be interested, please contact Dana Russell (dana@ctkcambridge.org).

Advent Resources

This is the final Sunday that advent devotional resources are on display in the Social Hall for both adults and families with children of various ages. Some resources are available to preview and order on your own, and a few are free to take. If you would like a devotional and need help with the cost, please let Dana or Lara know and we are glad to help! Additionally an advent gift is available by the table for all families, so please stop by to pick yours up for this season!

Pumpkin Event

CTK’s 2nd Annual Great Pumpkin was a TON of fun this past Saturday. A huge THANK YOU goes out to the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team for organizing (Ryan Grams, Lindsay Hardy, Nicole O’Hern, Lara Kastelein & Dana Russell) and all the volunteers who helped with set up, supervising the kids decorating table, preparing and serving food, judging pumpkins and packing everything up after the event! You may check out event photos and upload your own pictures in this Google album.

Notes for College Students

This August, we sent three of our high school seniors off to college.  As a congregation, we’ll be sending cards to them as an encouragement during their first midterms. Ariana will be putting the cards and pens near the snacks after the service if anyone would like to sign them or leave a brief note letting them know we’re thinking of and praying for them. This will be the last Sunday before they’re mailed at the end of the month.

CTK Stories (Copy)

Earlier in the Nehemiah sermon series, Pastor Travis encouraged us to find ways to share our own stories on how God has been at work to sustain, equip and grow us for being on mission to rebuild. To that end, we’d love for you to share a short story of how God has been on the move in your life. The idea is to feature stories in the Reader during the remainder of our sermon series. You could offer a short (3 min) video or a 300 word (or less) written version of a story - whichever you like best. Kids are welcome to share too! Or if you don't want your story published, but you do want to share it with Travis or the other leaders of the church, we'd be glad to hear it and be encouraged by it all the same. You can upload your video or document to this shared Dropbox folder. Looking forward to hearing about how God has been on the move!

Christian Education

We are preparing to kick off Sunday School for the new school year!  Classes will begin on Sunday, September 18 for kids in Grades K-8. Note, as we settle into new rhythms and a new pastor this fall, high school and adult education will follow a different schedule. Stay tuned for more details.

  • Sunday school classes will meet from 9:15-10:15am in the church basement.

  • We will be taking some Sundays off from class (including most major holidays)--the schedule will posted to the church calendar.

  • Masks are optional for children and volunteers/staff. You may also refer COVID-19 guidelines for class.

New this year: Please register your family by September 11 if you plan to have your child(ren) attend Sunday School. (Note, this is a one-time registration to indicate your family's intent to attend for the 2022-23 school year.) You may also indicate your interest in childcare options for younger children (6 mos. - preschool) during the Sunday School hour.

Sunday school Teachers

Children's Sunday School (meeting on Sundays before the service) this past year was on Zoom, however we aim to be back in person in September and with that we will need some new teachers in order to serve all our age groups. This is an incredible relationship and disciplining opportunity serving our most eager and delightful congregants! Please email Dana Russell (dana@ctkcambridge.org) if you are interested.
