Congregational Meeting

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, preceded by a prayer meeting that will start at 6:30p. This meeting will be held virtually.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge

  2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

  3. Share information with the church

Instructions for how to participate in the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.

Congregational Meeting (10/18)

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to two upcoming Congregational Meetings.

The first is on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the October meeting:
1. Consider the resignation of Rev. Rick Downs as Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church
2. Approve a process for forming a pastoral search committee*
3. Hear more information and ask questions related to placing an interim pastor in Cambridge and the search for a permanent replacement

The second is on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the November meeting:
1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge
2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

Women Together February 28

There will be a Women Together event next Wednesday on February 28th at 7:30pm.  Join women from the congregation for tea, cookies, and a time of learning about God's work in our lives. We'll be meeting at Rachel Thrasher's house and Leslie Soria will share her testimony of how God has been at work in her family's life through the process of adoption. Youth Overnight

Youth Overnight: Come away for the night! Saturday, March 10- Sunday, March 11 at the Cedar Hill Retreat Center in Duxbury, MA. Hang out with other youth from CTK for a time of fun and fellowship that includes preparing some of our own meals. Saturday night we’ll be joined by youth from our sister church Grace South Shore and hear from Jeff Myers who serves as Youth Director & Pastoral Intern there. On Sunday morning, the group will attend worship at Grace and grab some lunch before heading home. Friends from outside church are welcome to join us. Cost: $25. Christ and the Creative Arts

Christ and the Creative Arts:  Boston Fellows invites you to an engaging discussion at the intersection of art, beauty, and the Christian faith, led by Gordon College art professors Jim Zingarelli and David West.  This free event will be held at Ruggles Baptist Church, 874 Beacon Street, Boston, from 10-3pm on Saturday, December 9.  Lunch is provided.  To reserve your spot, please RSVP here.  Contact Nathan Barczi with questions.

MHSA Homeless in Boston

CTK Somerville member Alex Kontras works at MHSA, which conducts weekly housing workshops for some of the longest-term homeless in Boston.  They are in need of two kinds of help at one of their shelters in Dorchester:  1) $10 Dunkin’ Donuts cards, which are provided to workshop participants as incentives to complete housing paperwork, and 2) providing food for a hot breakfast prior to the workshop.  Online donations of gift cards can be made here (enter “gift card” in the “In memory or honor of” box); for information about providing breakfast or for any other questions, contact Alex.

BCPC 2017 Gala Fundraiser

Boston Center for Pregnancy Choices invites you to attend the 2017 Gala Fundraiser with guest speakers Bob and Pam Tebow, parents of Tim Tebow. Come and hear stories of lives that have been changed through this organization. The gala will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 7:00-9:30pm at The Westin Hotel in Waltham. Costanzo's Daughter

We are asking for prayers for the Costanzo family. Teagin Costanzo, daughter of CTK-supported ministers Cory and Marna Costanzo, has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  Teagin and her family face an arduous course of treatment in the next months. The family has set up a gofundme site and a t-shirt fundraiser for any who would like to contribute financially to the costs of Teagin’s medical care.

Making Room at Thanksgiving

Making Room at Thanksgiving: In an effort to ensure that no one at CTK is without a place to go this Thanksgiving, we are looking for people who have room at their tables. Also, if you are someone who is currently without a place to share the meal, we would be happy to connect you with someone who would love for you to join them.
