Congregational Meeting

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, preceded by a prayer meeting that will start at 6:30p. This meeting will be held virtually.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge

  2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

  3. Share information with the church

Instructions for how to participate in the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.

Congregational Meeting (10/18)

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to two upcoming Congregational Meetings.

The first is on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the October meeting:
1. Consider the resignation of Rev. Rick Downs as Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church
2. Approve a process for forming a pastoral search committee*
3. Hear more information and ask questions related to placing an interim pastor in Cambridge and the search for a permanent replacement

The second is on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the November meeting:
1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge
2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

Childcare Needed

CTK Cambridge family seeks childcare in Needham or nearby on Wednesdays and Fridays, January through May, tentatively 9:30am-4:30pm. Both parents work at Olin College; the children are an infant boy and five-year old girl. Looking for care by a stay-at-home parent or nanny share arrangement. Clothing Swap - NEW DATE

The Annual Clothing Swap will be happening this Sunday, November 18th after the service (the Brazilian congregation has a conference that weekend and will not be having their service at their usual time). Have any questions about the swap? Check out the FAQ page. If you have any donations you would like to make to the swap, please drop them off in the bin outside the social hall over the next few Sundays. If you would like to help with the swap in any way, please contact Cat Sherrill.

Midwinter Play

Christ the King Somerville performs an original piece of theater entitled "Midwinter," designed to present an alternative to the often nostalgic representations of Advent and Christmas. Using scripture, song, and movement, the all-female cast tell the stories of the men and women who are named in the narrative of the birth of Christ, as well as the story of all of us who are longing for reconciliation and peace. Join us for an exploration of mystery, lamentation, longing, hope, and joy. Tickets for the Saturday showing are sold out, but are still available for Sunday the 16th at 7:30pm. Tickets are free and can be reserved here, where you can also find location info. Children are welcome, but recommended age 6 and up. Contact Ruthie Buescher with questions.

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church / Igreja Presbiteriana Cristo Rei / Grace Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Saturday, November 3 at 10a at 99 Prospect St. Business to be conducted:

  • Elect Deacons

  • Recommend Assistants to the Deacons

  • Share updates and information

Officer Nominations

Nominations for CTK Officers are now being received. If you are a member of CTK and want to nominate someone for elder, deacon, or deacon assistant, please follow these steps:

  1. Read 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9 for biblical qualifications.

  2. Approach your nominee and ask that you pray together for wisdom.

  3. With the approval of the nominee, please submit the nomination via office@ctkcambridge.org.

Making Room at Thanksgiving

Making Room at Thanksgiving: In an effort to ensure that no one at CTK is without a place to go this Thanksgiving, we are looking for people who have room at their tables. Also, if you are someone who is currently without a place to share the meal, we would be happy to connect you with someone who would love for you to join them. Grace Preparatory Information Meeting:  Grace Prep takes the best attributes of homeschooling and combines them with the best attributes of traditional, Christian education to provide a private, non-denominational Christian, university-model school.
