Position: Children’s Ministry Operations Coordinator
Work Hours: Part-time (7-10 hrs per week)
Reports to: Children’s Ministry Director

Position Summary

Report to and work closely with the Director to plan, implement and oversee programs and operations for the Children’s Ministry at Christ the King (which cares for and supports families with children through Grade 5). The ideal candidate will have roots at the church and/or a strong desire to care for and support our families, with a larger vision of teaching and discipling children in their faith as they grow up in our community. The individual will also have a commitment to their personal prayer life, which will sustain and inform his or her work within the Children’s Ministry.


Requirements

  • Be/become a member of Christ the King (theologically aligned with the doctrines of the church) and take an active part in the life of the church

  • Availability to work at the church building regularly on Sunday mornings (see Sunday Operations) and during the week as needed. 

  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for meetings, special programs and events.

  • Complete screening process required of paid staff per CTK’s Child Protection Policy (background checks, sexual abuse awareness training, etc.)

 

Responsibilities (see also BELOW)

  • Serve as a member of the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team, working with the Director on vision, mission and strategic planning

  • Oversee Sunday operations for Children's Ministry programs

  • Purchase and prepare materials and supplies for weekly programs

  • Oversee weekly volunteer/staff coordination and create quarterly schedules

  • Plan, support and assist with special events and programs


Technical Skills

Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar) and Apple iWork software (Pages, etc.). 


Hours & Compensation

Part-time, 7-10 hours per week at $22.30 / hour

Time would be structured such that on weeks the coordinator is overseeing Sunday Ops, the balance of hours would be dedicated during the week to the other position responsibilities.

Vacation time: Two weeks unpaid leave annually


Responsibilities (Expanded)

Specific responsibilities of the Children’s Ministry Coordinator are included below (though the position is not limited to this list). The Coordinator will independently complete some tasks and give input and work with the Director on others.

Sunday Operations

  • Coordinator will serve as the “Ops” Supervisor roughly 50% of Sundays. (Schedule is created quarterly in coordination with the Director and other church schedules.)

  • Oversee ministry programs for the morning including completing set-up and break-down tasks, supervising volunteers, upholding church policies, and supporting families.

  • Welcome and guide visitors and new families

Weekly Ministry Prep

  • Print teaching materials and classroom supplies (e.g. lessons and student pages, project supplies, coloring pages & sermon worksheets)

  • Order and replenish needed supplies (e.g. snacks, classrooms supplies, nursery items, pew pouches, check-in supplies)

  • Launder any soiled nursery linens

Volunteer Coordination & Scheduling 

  • Create quarterly schedules for volunteers and staff (as part of the church scheduling process)

  • Send out weekly reminders to volunteer teams (e.g. lesson materials to Children’s Worship, email nursery volunteers/staff).

  • Manage scheduling conflicts (e.g. help volunteers facilitate switches, find subs, keep schedules up-to-date) 

  • Manage process for volunteer/staff recruitment, onboarding and screening

Special Programs & Events

  • Work with the Leadership Team and/or Director to plan for and execute special events, including:

    • Fall Pumpkin Event (October)

    • Advent (December)

    • Church Getaway (late January or early February)

    • Easter (March/April)

    • Volunteer Appreciation (May)

  • Support other ministry projects as arise and time allows (e.g. planning activities encouraging the spiritual growth of children in Grades 3-5)
