As gene editing technologies, such as CRISPR/Cas9, become more advanced and affordable, their ability to have profoundly positive effects on humankind seems apparent. Solutions to the ethical considerations, such as equity of access and societal values related to genetic diversity, are far less apparent and demand thoughtful consideration. Accordingly, the Veritas Forum at MIT is pleased to host Stanford neurobiologist William Hurlbut and MIT genetic biologist Rudolf Jaenisch to dialogue about these issues. The discussion will be moderated by MIT professor of engineering Cullen Buie. The event will be hosted at MIT in room 26-100 on Thursday, April 26th at 7PM. Refreshments will follow.
