Congregational Meeting

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, preceded by a prayer meeting that will start at 6:30p. This meeting will be held virtually.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge

  2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

  3. Share information with the church

Instructions for how to participate in the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.

Congregational Meeting (10/18)

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to two upcoming Congregational Meetings.

The first is on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the October meeting:
1. Consider the resignation of Rev. Rick Downs as Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church
2. Approve a process for forming a pastoral search committee*
3. Hear more information and ask questions related to placing an interim pastor in Cambridge and the search for a permanent replacement

The second is on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the November meeting:
1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge
2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

BCPC Love Life Race

Do you like to run? Walk? Cheer people on while they run/walk? Well, this is your chance! Boston Center for Pregnancy Choices (BCPC) is a local non-profit offering services to men and women facing unplanned pregnancies, and they are holding their annual Love Life Walk/Run this Saturday, June 9th, at DCR Chestnut Hill Reservoir, Brighton. This is a great way to spend time with you community group, as you can form a team and fundraise together! Races include a 10K, 5K, and Kids 1K Fun Run, and they start at 8:30am, so you could still make it to the all-church picnic after you burn some calories and support a great cause! Veritas Forum

As gene editing technologies, such as CRISPR/Cas9, become more advanced and affordable, their ability to have profoundly positive effects on humankind seems apparent. Solutions to the ethical considerations, such as equity of access and societal values related to genetic diversity, are far less apparent and demand thoughtful consideration. Accordingly, the Veritas Forum at MIT is pleased to host Stanford neurobiologist William Hurlbut and MIT genetic biologist Rudolf Jaenisch to dialogue about these issues. The discussion will be moderated by MIT professor of engineering Cullen Buie. The event will be hosted at MIT in room 26-100 on Thursday, April 26th at 7PM. Refreshments will follow. Missionary Contacts

CTK supports a number of missionaries through financial giving, prayer, and encouragement. To strengthen the church's work in praying for and encouraging these missionaries, we are inviting Community Groups to pray for and occasionally communicate with one of these families. CG leaders and/or other CG members can be the primary contact(s) with the family. If your CG is interested in learning more about being connected to a missionary, contact Laura Martin to get more information.

Sunday Parking

Please note, there is no parking on St. Paul Street next to the church, as it is a private street. If you're looking for parking on Sunday mornings, please use Bishop Allen Drive, Harvard Street, Broadway, or any of the other public streets in the vicinity. Permit parking spots and metered parking spots are not in effect on Sundays, but private streets are never open to the public.

RUF Interns Looking for Roommates

RUF at Boston University has two interns beginning work this fall who are looking for housing. If you have any leads on roommates for a 20-something male and a 20-something female, please reach out to Nathan Dicks. They will each be looking to live in different apartments near Boston University (Cambridgeport, Brookline, or Allston), beginning 8/1 or 9/1.

Adult Ed: Selflessness

This Sunday is the final class in the Adult Ed series on Selflessness taught by Nathan Carter.  A sad reality of human life after the fall is our deep self-orientation.  As the Holy Spirit works in the life of a Christian, what does it look like to have that self-orientation changed?  What makes a journey towards selflessness difficult? We will think through these questions and others with guidance from the stories and teachings of Scripture.  We will touch on issues such as service, relationships, prayer, evangelism, and self-control. Recordings of this and past classes are available at ctkcambridge.org/adulteducation.

Boston Fellows: Business Leadership

Boston Fellows is pleased to host three senior business leaders as they share their inside stories of serving Christ on the front lines and what they've learned about leadership on Saturday, April 14 from 10am-3pm at Ruggles Baptist Church. The three speakers will be Tom Colatosti, CEO of Oasis Systems; Dolores Bamford, Managing Director at Goldman-Sachs; and Andrew Buckler, President of Elucid Bioimaging. This event is free and open to the public and lunch will be provided. To reserve your spot, please RSVP by April 13.

Apartment needed: Jeff Derr's sister-in-law is moving to Boston this August for a Postdoc position at Boston College.
