Lunch & learn
CTK Women's Ministry "Lunch & Learn" - Sunday, July 10 at 12:30PM
Please join us as we kick off a series of picnics (either indoor or outdoor) -- fellowship and learn about topics via interviews with various women in our community. The kick-off topic will be "Grief". We will be interviewing Jeanie Carson, a bereavement counselor at Good Shepherd Community Care in Newton, MA. Jeanie will cover questions about what grief is, ways of helping someone who is grieving, navigating our own grief, resources for addressing grief, including losses that were never fully grieved, and dealing with “disenfranchised grief” or losses beyond death of a significant person in our lives. We will also have time for prayer. Invite a friend or two! Bring your own lunch and chair/blanket and we will either picnic at Dana Park or in Fellowship Hall (weather depending). For more info, please contact Martha Olson at women@ctkcambridge.org.
Call to Worship
Leader: Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Congregation: Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
Leader: Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them.
Congregation: Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
Leader: He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in.
All: Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of men! For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. — Psalm 107:1-9

Communion Cups
Men's Bible Study
The Men's Bible Study has just started Jude and 1 & 2 Peter, so it's an ideal time to visit! We meet Fridays 6-7am here on Zoom every week to read, reflect on, and discuss one chapter of the Bible. It's been a great time to meet other men in the church and to learn from Scripture and each other. No preparation required and newcomers or one-time visitors are always welcome. Contact Andy (astuntz@gmail.com) with questions.
update from welcome team
The Pastoral Welcome Team would like to offer thanks to the CTK community for your suggestions and contributions to the welcome basket for the Drakes, especially for the "best of Boston" list--there were many great ones! We presented some New England themed snacks/drinks, books, along with memberships to the MFA, Zoo New England, and the Audubon Society for them to explore their new hometown. If you are available to help the Drakes move in when their PODS arrive, please contact Sarah Goodman at ssgoodman617@gmail.com.
CTR Update
An Update from Matt Owens on Christ the Redeemer Quincy & Seven Hills Presbyterian:
Matt Owens, who has preached multiple times at CTK Cambridge over the last two years, has accepted a new call to be the Pastor of Seven Hills Presbyterian Church (formerly CTK Somerville). He had previously served at this church as assistant pastor before planting Christ the Redeemer in Quincy, which had its inaugural worship service in March of 2020. While this new call wasn’t a move Matt was seeking to make, the Lord brought it about and confirmed it, through prayer and counsel with others, including leaders within Christ the Redeemer. The commission that oversees the church plant has determined that Christ the Redeemer will not continue on. This is because the majority of committed members at CTR plan to attend Seven Hills, while others are making plans to go to other good churches closer to where they live. To learn more about Matt’s ministry and this upcoming change, you can watch his video here.
Children's Worship
This summer we have begun a new pick up procedure for children’s worship in order for the children to be in the service for the Lord’s Supper and Benediction. After the sermon, there will now be a song before we take the Lord’s Supper; during the song one parent can head to the back foyer outside of the fellowship hall on the bathroom side. Pick up will take place at the door at the top of the stairwell. Please remember your security tag when you come for pick up. Drop off will remain as usual during the Passing of the Peace.
During Sunday services, sermon worksheets will be available for both 3rd-5th graders and Middle Schoolers to pick up during the Passing of the Peace to the right of the stage. Bring your worksheet to show Miss Dana or Miss Lara what you were able to complete after the service for a treat!
Adult Ed Class
Adult Ed Class: Religious Poetry
Calling all poets! For two weeks we will explore the craft and culture of Christian poetry and analyze a few classic poems to learn how poetry can capture the imagination and ennoble the heart. Poetry is the common denominator of the Bible and can enrich the life of contemplation and praise. After a primer, we will examine the poetry of Herbert, Vaughan, and Christina Rossetti. God is the Poet Laureate of the Universe speaking to us in echos that defy normal speech. Class will be in-person in the Social Hall with a Zoom option. Starting on July 3, Adult Ed will be on hiatus for the summer.
