Congregational Meeting

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, preceded by a prayer meeting that will start at 6:30p. This meeting will be held virtually.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge

  2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

  3. Share information with the church

Instructions for how to participate in the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.

Congregational Meeting (10/18)

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to two upcoming Congregational Meetings.

The first is on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the October meeting:
1. Consider the resignation of Rev. Rick Downs as Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church
2. Approve a process for forming a pastoral search committee*
3. Hear more information and ask questions related to placing an interim pastor in Cambridge and the search for a permanent replacement

The second is on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the November meeting:
1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge
2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

Holy Week

A reminder of the Holy Week services this weekend:

Friday, 7:30pm :: Good Friday Tenebrae
A joint service with other Cambridge-area churches, held at Pentecostal Tabernacle (56 Magazine St., Cambridge). Come worship with other believers in our community!

Sunday, 6:30am :: Sunrise Service
Followed by breakfast. If you’re planning on attend are willing to help during the service or after, please email laura@ctkcambridge.org.

Sunday, 10:30am :: Easter Service
Please note, there will not be Sunday School or Adult Education on Easter Sunday.

Youth Events

EMOSEWA (2nd-5th graders): Mark you calendars for a all out hot chocolate party on April 2nd 12:30-2:30.  Please join us for fun, games, and new challenges for the springtime!  Contact lara@ctkcambridge.org to RSVP and/ or if you have any questions. 

High Schoolers are invited to a Meet-up following the service on April 2nd. The group will be going to Olé in Inman Square for lunch. Contact ariana@ctkcambridge.org with any questions.

Joseph Bartels

We’re pleased to announce that Joseph Bartels, a seminary student at Gordon Conwell, is coming on board part-time to aid with leading and planning worship services through the end of the semester while Amanda is still on administrative leave. Joseph and his wife Katie attended CTK last fall and served on the worship team a few times.  Joseph was also the music director at his former church.  We are very grateful for his willingness to serve in this season.

Easter Resources

This Sunday, two Easter family resources will be available in the Social Hall. The first is Mission Accomplished, a two-week Easter devotional book which begins on Palm Sunday. Sets of “Resurrection Eggs” are also available which offer a hands-on way to share the story of Easter with children. If you already have a set for your family, you might grab an extra one to share evangelistically with friends or neighbors.

Christmas Eve

Please note, this Sunday’s service will be at 4p. There will be no 10:30a service this coming Sunday. A few other changes for this Sunday’s service:

  • There will be Children’s Worship, but the children will stay in their classes during the sermon as well as communion, and then join us in the sanctuary for the final reading and last two songs.

  • There will not be snacks following the service.

  • Nursery will NOT be open for drop-off care (for children 3 years and under). The nursery rooms will be open for diaper changing, nursing mothers or families in need of a quiet space and the livestream of the service and a selection of toys will be available in the Social Hall.

  • The final two songs of the service involve lighting candles. Parents, please use discretion when allowing children to hold their own candles.

Women's Ministry Hike

CTK Women -- Let's take a hike and enjoy the early signs of spring! This 6-mile hike is around Walden Pond and up to the site of Thoreau's Cabin. Bring a lunch and water bottle. It is a 35-min drive to the park and a $5 parking fee. The hike usually takes 2 hours. Kids are welcome to join us. We leave the Church parking lot at 9:30AM and return around 12:30. If there is bad weather, our "Plan B" is to have games and snacks in the social hall. RSVP to Rebekah Dale (rebekah.c.anaya@gmail.com) to let her know if you need a ride or have extra space in your car.

CTK Softball Team

We are fielding a softball team for the Boston Metro Church Softball League again this summer. Games are played Saturday mornings, starting early June through August/September. It is a fun way to fellowship with members of the greater Boston Church community, and spectators are more than welcome. If you are interested in playing (or spectating!), please contact Owen Andrews (joandrews33@gmail.com) to be added to the mailing list.
