Congregational Meeting

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, preceded by a prayer meeting that will start at 6:30p. This meeting will be held virtually.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge

  2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

  3. Share information with the church

Instructions for how to participate in the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to two upcoming Congregational Meetings.

The first is on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the October meeting:
1. Consider the resignation of Rev. Rick Downs as Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church
2. Approve a process for forming a pastoral search committee*
3. Hear more information and ask questions related to placing an interim pastor in Cambridge and the search for a permanent replacement

The second is on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the November meeting:
1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge
2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

Housing Needed

Emily Berry is a Christian and a friend of CTK alums, the Soria family. She is looking for an extra room to stay in while in Boston from Nov 12- Dec 25th (she could also stay a shorter time - Nov 12 - Dec 4th). She is a ballet dancer and is dancing in Jose Mateo’s Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker. If you have space for any or all of that timeframe, please reach out to Emily at emilyhelman97@gmail.com.

Prattville Gallery

Please join to celebrate the Christmas season and contemplate the incarnation and Nôtre Dame - Our Lady  with work by Jim Zingarelli,  Katy Carter, Aimee Archambault, Kathryn Berchin,  Raquel Fornasaro, Maxwell Kane and others. The opening show is this ***Saturday, December 2nd at 4pm,*** at the Prattville Gallery in Chelsea (Address: 42 Nichols St, Chelsea MA). XC Skiing

Women's XC Ski Trip: For the third year, a group of CTK women and other friends are venturing north for a weekend of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and conversations by the fire. The trip will occur on President's Day weekend (Feb 16-18). We'll be travelling to southern Vermont (exact location TBD, but within a 2.5 hour drive). Even if you've never skied, feel free to come and learn -- we'll go to a location with equipment rentals and lessons available. Lodging will be in a VRBO (or two) chosen after we know the number of attendees -- signup (including a $100 non-refundable deposit) is required by December 15. Women's Brunch

Women of CTK! You’re invited to the CTK Women’s Christmas Brunch and White Elephant Gift swap! The party starts at 10a on Saturday, December 9th in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring a wrapped present, preferably something that you did not have to buy. It can be something silly or serious, something you want to re-home or handmade. CTK Great Pumpkin Event

Join us for the Third Annual CTK Great Pumpkin Event — church-wide pumpkin carving and decorating party on Saturday, October 28 from 2-5:30pm at Sennott Park in Cambridge (new location from last year). All are welcome for food, fun and prizes! Mini pumpkins for decorating will be provided but bring your own pumpkin to carve. Visit ctkcambridge.org/pumpkin for more information about directions & parking, what to bring, and judging categories. Please RSVP (not required but appreciated!). You may also sign-up to volunteer at the event. Note on Parking: The church has a parking consideration in place and attendees may park in residential spots on Harvard, Norfolk and Broadway. In metered parking spots you still need to pay and observe the two-hour limit.

Nursery Volunteers

Calling All Volunteers! Join Our Church Nursery Team! At CTK we want little ones to feel safe, loved, and cared for and their parents to feel supported in worship. This is where our dedicated nursery volunteers come in! Do you have a passion for working with children? Are you a big kid at heart who enjoys constructing train tracks, building towers, and reading stories? If the answer is yes, we would love to have you on our nursery team! Our goal is to have 4-6 new volunteers to schedule an orientation session in November. if you reach out to Dana Russell (dana@ctkcambridge.org) by November 12 you’ll receive a $5 Tatte gift card!

CTK Work Day

It's time for some fall clean-up at the church! Join us from 12-2pm on Saturday Oct 28th (right before the Great Pumpkin Event) to help with lawn/garden care, painting, and other housekeeping. Please RSVP to deacons@ctkcambridge.org, and bring gardening/work gloves if you have them. If yard work isn't your thing, consider helping with set-up for the Great Pumpkin Event instead -- sign up for that here.

Kids' Sunday Summary

New for Parents: We've launched a new page on the church website called “Kids' Sunday Summary." This dedicated space provides a brief overview of the lessons covered in Sunday classes with questions to continue the conversation at home. This tool is intended to strengthen the connection between the church and home, making it easier for parents to review and reinforce these important teachings with their children throughout the week. Crates for Ukraine

Crates for Ukraine is a ministry organized by Mission to the World (MTW), the the global missions-sending agency of the PCA. MTW Ukraine and MTW Team Lviv  are partnering with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine to provide personal and humanitarian aid from the hands of churches in the U.S. to the hands of churches and displaced communities in Ukraine.
