Miracle Mile

The deacons are taking up clothing donations at the church building for the ministry Miracle Mile. Miracle Mile serves those living on “Methadone Mile,” a concentrated area on Mass Ave where many struggle with substance abuse. There will be donation bins at the church building for congregants to drop off donations. You can see the list of needed items here. If you have any questions, please contact Ellen Wu.

Calling All Musicians!

Calling all musicians! Are you interested in sharing your gifts this Advent season? Here are a few ways you can help out! To learn more about any of these opportunities, please email amanda@ctkcambridge.org.

  • Join the rotation of musicians helping to lead music on Sunday mornings.

  • Lend your voice to the Advent A Cappella Choir, which will provide special music during the Sunday service on December 5.

  • Participate in CTK's annual Christmas Concert, which will take place in person and on livestream on Saturday, December 11. We're looking in particular for people to join in a brass ensemble, a string ensemble, and/or a choral ensemble!

Pumpkin Update

The weather was perfect this past Saturday for CTK’s Great Pumpkin Event which was a fun time for all. We’d like to thank the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team (Ryan Grams, Lindsay Hardy and Nicole O’Hern) for working with us to plan the event. We’re also grateful to all who helped on Saturday—setting up, overseeing mini pumpkin decorating, preparing refreshments, judging and cleaning up—thank you! Check out the decorated and carved pumpkins and other event photos or upload your own pictures in this Google album.

Directory

It’s time for a church directory update, and this time around, we’ll be changing the format. CTK uses software called Planning Center Online - which is how you register for services, or give online, or send us block out dates for volunteering. Planning Center now has a directory feature, so we’ll be transitioning over to that for our church directory. Over the next few days, you’ll receive an invitation to join the directory. Please follow the prompts to add photos and share whatever information you’re comfortable sharing. A few notes on privacy:

  • When signing up for the directory, you can choose what information to share (your photo, your phone, your email, and/or your address, or any combination thereof).

  • Only you can share your information and/or your household’s information in the directory. Church staff can invite you to join, but we cannot publicly post your information.

  • There will be a link to the directory on the website, but anyone who is not invited to the directory by staff will not have access to the directory and will not be able to see it.

  • If you have any questions or issues in joining, you can either visit our web page with instructions or you can email laura@ctkcambridge.org.

Youth Worker

We are excited to announce that CTK Cambridge is hiring a part-time Youth Worker (8 hours/wk) for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Youth Worker will lead three youth meetings per month, build discipleship relationships with students, and train youth ministry volunteers. Qualifications: a love for kids in grades 6–12 and a passion to teach the gospel in age-appropriate ways. Prior teaching experience in a Christian setting is preferred. Applications can be sent to office@ctkcambridge.org. Please spread the word!

Volunteering

As we are reopening, the staff at CTK want to take this opportunity to thoughtfully rebuild our volunteer teams. As such, we will not automatically assume that members will be serving in the roles they previously did. In the coming months, we will be discussing as a community how best to use our individual gifts to serve the church, and we ask you to prayerfully consider how you feel called and gifted. In the meantime, there are certain teams that are in need of volunteers. In particular, we are in need of communion servers each week. All adult members of Christ the King are encouraged to serve in this way, and most did prior to the pandemic. If you are willing to serve in this way, please email laura@ctkcambridge.org.

Children's Ministry in the Fall

As we plan for resuming children’s ministry in-person this fall, we invite all members to watch this video to hear how you may pray for us and consider serving with our kids. We’ve also changed our policies and ask all volunteers to complete updated safety measures this summer (whether or not you’ll be ready to serve in the coming months).

25th Anniversary

We’re having a party! This August marks the 25th anniversary for Christ the King Presbyterian Church, and we’re excited to celebrate. We’re looking for a small team of party-planners to help organize a fun event to celebrate the work the Lord has done in Cambridge over these last 25 years! If you’re interested in helping or learning more, please email Laura by July 4th.

Nursery Staff

Christ the King is looking to staff the nursery during the worship service on Sunday mornings. There will be two nursery workers for up to 8 children. COVID safety precautions will be taken by both staff and families. COVID vaccination, Background checks and training are required. Pay is $17/ hrs, hours are 10am - 12pm. If you know anyone who may be interested please contact lara@ctkcambridge.org.

Rick & T

An update on Rick & T: Rick has taken a year-long position as the “stated supply” (that’s PCA-talk for “he’ll be preaching”) at a church in South Carolina. He recently started down there, and while he and T are away, Clyde and Valerie will be living in their home in Cambridge. Rick & T would be glad to hear from folks and have visitors: their address is 13 Muirfield Dr. Okatie, SC 29909.

Building Update

The sanctuary renovations are finishing up this week. You can see pictures of their progress, from February til now, in this Google Photos album. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped remove and then bring back the pews. And special thanks to Joe Buckley and Katy Carter for all their work in the planning and execution of these renovations. We are a grateful congregation!

PSC Update

The Pastoral Search Committee is pleased to announce that we have finished writing the church and pastor profile and are wrapping up Phase 1 (learn more about the phases here). These profiles were created by carefully reviewing and distilling the feedback we received from the McGowan church assessment and the subsequent congregational survey. In many ways, the congregation provided the raw material which the PSC has then condensed and organized into a cohesive profile. You can watch a short video announcement from the PSC here and you can read the church and pastor profile here. Thank you for your prayers and support in this process, and please continue to pray for the PSC and for our congregation as we head into the next phase of the pastoral search.
