Women's Ministry Picnic

On Sunday, October 18, the women of the church are invited to a BYOLunch picnic after church in Sennott Park around noon. For those who were able to attend our meet-up in September, you may remember meeting new friends, reconnecting with familiar faces, and - importantly - ZERO occasions of joining in a conversation only to find yourself on mute. We expect more of that goodness again. NEW this time: We plan to spend a few minutes in conversation and prayer as a group. We hope you can join us! (@ Teens, you too!!)

If you're not able to attend but want to get involved, please reach out to Laura Martin at lauraamartin87@gmail.com. Whether you're new or have been at CTK for awhile, we would love to get to know you and help connect (and reconnect!) you with other women at the church.

Deacons' Fund Offering

Every month we take up an offering for the deacons’ fund to help meet the needs of folks in the congregation and community. Please watch the video above to learn more about the role of the deacons. To contribute to the deacons fund, please click here. If you are in need - great or small - please don’t hesitate to reach out to the deacons at deacons@ctkcambridge.org. All requests are confidential.

Be the Bridge

UniteBoston is launching a Be the Bridge Zoom group this fall to foster intentional conversation about diversity and racial reconciliation, empowering people to be the bridge between people divided by racial and cultural differences. Their goal for this group is for Christians throughout the city to gain a shared and biblically-grounded understanding of the process of restorative reconciliation - including lament, confession, forgiveness, righting wrongs, and restoring relationships. By committing to do this together, they aim to create a pathway for the Church in Boston to meaningfully address the sin of racism in its various forms as it has existed in history and as it exists today. It will take place on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30pm via Zoom from October 1 to December 10 or 17. The group will be led by leaders of different races – see the biographies here. This video will give you a snapshot into the group. Sign up is due this Saturday (9/26).

Getaway Brainstorm

An annual highlight at CTK is the Winter Getaway. However, due to COVID-19, we are not going to be able to get “away” like we have in the past. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t still partake in some of the best parts of the Getaway: rich times of learning and fellowship and outdoor activities. The staff have already started to brainstorm ways in which we can adapt, but we are looking to form a Get “Away” Brainstorming Team to help us think outside the box. If you’d be interested in helping out, please email laura@ctkcambridge.org.

A/V

Are you at all familiar with mixing live sound? Or, at the very least, does technology not terrify you? If either of those apply, please consider helping out on Sunday mornings with running the sound board. We can train you on how to use the board, and in many ways, running the board is simpler these days than it was pre-COVID, but it doesn’t quite run itself, so we’re looking for some help. If you’d like to learn more, please email amanda@ctkcambridge.org.

Matt Irvine

TONIGHT: Join us this evening (9/17) for a Zoom meeting with Matt Irvine, a CTK-supported missionary to London. We will meet from 6:30-7:30pm on Zoom. Matt will describe his family's work, and will take any questions we have. Unfortunately, this is the only opportunity we will have to connect with Matt. Last minute, he was informed that his insurance would not cover COVID care were he to travel, so we will not be meeting with him in person on September 28.

Women's Ministry Picnic

On Sunday, Sept 20, the women of the church are invited to a BYOLunch picnic after church in Sennott Park around noon. This is a great opportunity to meet someone new, connect with a leader of one of the upcoming Fall Bible studies, and enjoy this lovely September weather. If you can come, please email Eliza Sheffield - an RSVP is appreciated but not necessary. If you're not able to attend but want to get involved, please reach out to Laura Martin at lauraamartin87@gmail.com. Whether you're new or have been at CTK for awhile, we would love to get to know you and help connect (and reconnect!) you with other women at the church.

Women's Bible Studies

Women’s Bible Studies have resumed for the Fall. The Morning Bible Study will meet on Wednesdays, 9-10:30a, following a new study by Nancy Guthrie “God does his best work with Empty.” The Evening Bible Study will meet every other Monday at 7:30p (next meeting on 10/5) and will be following a study of 1 Timothy and Titus by John Stott. Please contact Kelly Sawyer (Bostonkelly@gmail.com) for the Wednesday morning group and Katie Jentoft (katie.jentoft@gmail.com) or Emily Stuntz (emily.debaun@gmail.com) for the Monday evening group.

Rick & T Videos

Hello All,

Thank you so much for contributing to the various gifts for Rick & T. It has been a delight and an encouragement to reflect on their years with us at CTK. Many of the videos for Rick & T are just for them to see, but we do have two videos we thought you all would like to see. For those of you who weren’t in the service in person, here’s the video of the kids singing "Jesus Loves Me", and below is a slideshow of photos of Rick & T’s time with us, set to “Be Thou My Vision” by Opal Puckett.

Thanks again,

Laura

Meals Ministry

The CTK Meals Ministry is still up and running! If you have need of support due to a new baby, foster or adoption placement, illness or surgery, loss in the family or other difficulty, please reach out to Erin Ward at meals@ctkcambridge.org. Also, if you are interested in joining the volunteer team for the Meals Ministry and occasionally and flexibly provide meals for people, contact Erin Ward at meals@ctkcambridge.org. It's a great way to practically serve our church at this time.

Mask Donations

The Cambridge CTK deacons and deacon's assistants would like to encourage the congregation to give personal protective equipment (masks) to our vulnerable neighbors in our various hometowns/commutes/office areas. Anyone who has worn a mask for an extended time knows how uncomfortable they can be. Have you found a mask that protects the nose and mouth from contact with droplets AND is comfortable/stylish? Please share your findings with the diaconate, we plan to make a bulk purchase to distribute on Sundays at the church and in Central Square. Please also consider buying a handful (or more) and distributing in your community/neighborhoods to people who live in vulnerable situations. Please contact Rosemary Boyle (romaryboyle@gmail.com) with suggestions and/or logistics for donations. We also have an easy pattern to share for those who sew.
